Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com March 6, 2014, 7:22 pm The Honolulu Advertiser, Sunday, June 9, 1935 Robinson-Witter Marriage Takes Place Yesterday Miss Norma Witter, daughter of Chester A. Witter of Hollister, Calif., was married yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock to Lawrence Tate Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Robinson of this city. The Rev. Mr. E. Tanner Brown officiated at the ceremony which was held in St. Clement's church. Vases of calla lilies were arranged on the altar and white Mexican creeper covered the railing of the chancel. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Robert Smythe sang "With You" by Nutting and "Until" by Sanderson. Music for the ceremony was played by Mrs. Olive Villiers Love. The bride was escorted to the altar by Burt Bacon. Her gown of white satin was fashioned with a train and monk's sleeves. A lace set-in collar softened the neckline. Her net veil of finger tip length was edged with pleating as was the hem of her gown. Canhamiana orchids and lilies-of-the-valley were used for the bride's bouquet. The maid-of-honor, Miss Florence Renwick Hogue, was gowned in a simply cut ensemble of turquoise blue chiffon. Her three-quarter length jacket was finished with a upstanding collar and wife cuffs edging the sleeves. She wore a halo hat of matching blue silk net and carried an arm bouquet of tea roses and forget-me-nots. Miss Doris Walker and Miss Thelma Grose, bridesmaids, were dressed alike in ashes of roses chiffon. The frocks were cut in shirt-waist style with pin tucks down the front and back of the waist. The long flowing sleeves and flaring skirts carried out the summer note. Poke bonnets of the same material completed their costumes and each carried bouquets of Agapanthus lilies. Mrs. Robinson, mother of the bridegroom, wore a gown of flowered chiffon complemented by a white picture hat. The bridegroom was served by his brother, Gordon M. Robinson, as best man. Tate Robinson, another brother, Herbert Auerbach, and William Weber were the ushers. Immediately after the wedding, a reception was held at the House Without a Key, Halekulani, for relatives and intimate friends. Mrs. Burt Bacon and Mrs. Eva R. Hart assisted in receiving. A wedding supper for the bridal party was given last night at the Hassinger street home of the bridegroom's parents.
