JAMES K. APOLO DEAD. A prominent and sterling Hawaiian of the older and better type passed away a few days ago in the death of James K. Apolo at his home in Moloaa. Born in Hanalei, he became one of the principal promoters of the Moloaa Hui of which he was a leading member and for many years the luna nui, or manager. He was also prominently interested in the Wainiha Hui and the Haena Hui, and has for some years been president of both of them. He was a very sturdy and enterprising Hawaiian with an initiative and energy which were uncommon. He has done a lot of good work in the way of wood hauling, plowing, etc. for the Makee Sugar Company and others in which he always acquitted himself with credit. He was for a time a member of the board of supervisors, representing Kawaihau, in which capacity he gave satisfaction. He was always deeply interested in churches, Sunday Schools, and C. E. societies and church work generally; very loyal and generous in the support of same. He will be much missed in that field. He was a prominent lay member of the Association of Kauai Churches and was seldom missing from the association conferences. He was twice married and leaves his second wife a widow but leaves no children.
