The Garden Island, Lihue, Kauai, Tues., Feb. 8, 1916
BLACKSTAD, MAREN CHRISTINA
A REAL KAMAAINA DIES AT WAIMEA.  Mrs. Maren Christian Blackstad, wife of M. O. I. 
Blackstad, Waimea, died last Thursday after an illness of practically six years. 
The funeral took place the following day and was attended by a large number of 
relations and friends. Mrs. Blackstad was born at Eidsvoid, Norway, April 11, 
1851, and was married to Mr. Blackstad on December 26, 1876, at Berum, Norway. 
Left Norway in 1880 and arrived in the Islands on June 13, 1881. There are seven 
surviving children, as follows:  Theodore Blackstad, Mrs. Anna Nordemeir, Mrs. 
Antoinette Asch, Axel B. Blackstad, Charles D. B. Blackstad, Mrs. L. Wilson, and 
Mrs. Olga Christian.
