A sad accident happened at Hanalei last week when Mr. Edgar, the assistant lighthouse keeper at Kilauea, and his mother, Mrs. Sarah Frymier, decided to go in swimming in the surf. The undertow was running somewhat hard, and Mr. Edgar had a hard time to bring his mother to the beach, but this was finally accomplished with the assistance of a Hawaiian boy who rushed into the surf to help him. Mrs. Frymier, after resting on the beach for a few moments, started for the hotel but was overcome on the way and had to be carried in. Shortly afterwards, she passed away from heart failure brought on by the excitement of the few minutes previous. Mrs. Frymier was a resident of Long Island, New York, and had come to the Islands to be with her son who is a draft man and in Class 1A. She leaves behind her two sons and two daughters, one being Mrs. Joe Murphy of Hanalei. The remains were taken to Honolulu for cremation and then will be sent from there to New York for interment.
