HAAE, HARRIET KAWAIULA
OBITUARY NOTICE.  Harriet Kawaiula Haae of Waipouli, Kapaa, Kauai, died Friday 
afternoon, August 25, 1916, at the Lihue Hospital where she was supposed to be 
recovering from the effects of an operation for appendicitis. While taking a walk 
with her mother, she fainted and did not recover. She had been in the hospital 
nine days, and Dr. F. L. Putman was so much pleased with her progress that he 
assured her leaving the hospital for home the day following her death. She was 
well known to old and new scholars and members of the faculty of St. Andrew's 
Priory, graduating from that school last June as a member of the class of 1916. 
Her sudden death came as an unexpected blow to them as well as to relatives. Her 
intention to visit the dear ones at home -- mother, older sister, and their 
adopted child "Baby Harriet" -- and then return to the Normal School for another 
year or two, was partially fulfilled only. Mrs. Harriet Wall, wife of Mr. Arthur 
F. Wall of Wall & Dougherty, Honolulu, was her guardian and sent her to the St. 
Andrew's Priory. A wireless message was sent to her, and a return message was 
received bearing sympathy to the bereaved family, with Bishop Restarick, members 
of the faculty, and scholars of the St. Andrew's Priory joining in it. Funeral 
services were held Saturday afternoon at Kapaa church, and interment was in the 
Hawaiian church cemetery, adjacent to the grave of her father who died a year ago.
