Lum Hop, an aged Chinese, was found dead, hanging by the neck in his house in the valley below Lihue Mill last Tuesday. The discovery was made by Charles Ishii, bookkeeper for Kipu Plantation, who went to call on the old man and found him hanging from a rope from the rafters. The police were notified and upon investigation found a message written upon a white apron upon the body, stating that he was despondent because he was forced to leave his home which had been sold to another party. The deceased was 60 years old and had no family. He had formerly been an employee at different times of Grove Farm and Lihue plantations.
