Kanda Ikumatsu, a Japanese, slashed by another Japanese in the Kanekiya camp near Camp 2, Gay & Robinson's plantation, by one Faurai Takizo on Sunday week, died in the hospital at Waimea last Tuesday night. The following day the assailant was arraigned in Judge Hofgaard's court on the charge of murder and was committed to the Circuit Court for trial by jury. He was then brought over to Lihue and locked in the county jail. The cutting was the outgrowth of a drink fest, the assailant cutting the dead man in a number of places and also cutting another Japanese named Nada Kanibaro. The latter will appear as a witness in the case. The affair created quite a good deal of excitement among the Japanese of the camp, all three of the men concerned being well known.
