James McClellan, one of the old residents of Waimea, died there last Wednesday. He had been on the Islands more than 20 years, mostly in Waimea. He was originally a builder and contractor, but some years ago he retired and led a quiet life for the balance of his days. He married one of the Hart girls of Waimea, and his wife survives him as his only heir. He was born in Illinois, served in the Civil War, and was 71 years old at the time of his death. In spite of the lack of early advantages, he was a man of a good deal of natural ability and one who commended himself to a large circle of friends as a rough and ready man of rugged character and a large heart.
