The Garden Island, Lihue, Kauai, Tues., 8-1-1922
RODRIGUES, CLEMENTINA
OLD PORTUGUESE RESIDENT DIES.  Mrs. John Rodrigues, Sr., belonging to one of the 
first Portuguese families to settle on Kauai, died of old age at her home in Kapaa 
last Friday morning at the age of 74 years. Coming to Hawaii with her husband in 
1882 from Madeira, Portugal, where she was born, the deceased has lived in Kapaa 
ever since. She is survived by her husband who is employed by the Makee Sugar 
Company and still in the best of health; one daughter, Mrs. John F. Rapoza of 
Kealia; six sons -- Joseph, Antone, Louis, John Jr., Alfred and William; besides 
38 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all living on Kauai. Funeral services 
were held at the Kealia Catholic Church on Saturday morning, and the remains laid 
to rest in the Kealia cemetery. [
