News was received this morning of the death of William Schieber in the Queen's Hospital last Sunday evening from pneumonia, following a serious operation. The funeral took place from the Williams undertaking parlors at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon. Born on October 21, 1854, William Schieber was 65 years, 4 months, and 16 days old and came to Hawaii when a young man. He resided in Kauai for 36 years and made his home in Honolulu the past 2 years. He was connected with the sugar plantations on Kauai ever since coming to the Islands, being an expert on boiler work. Mr. Schieber had just recently left Lihue where he had been working for several months in connection with the improvements being installed in Lihue mill. He was well known and liked among a large circle of friends for his many excellent qualities. Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. Henry Gehring of Honolulu, and four grandchildren.
