Haruo Takomoto, Japanese, about 22 years of age, was drowned in Reservoir No. 18 near the Koloa "short-cut" road, Sunday afternoon. Haruo, as he was known, went out with a number of other young men to swim in the reservoir. It is believed by his companions that he was taken with cramps as he could swim. Hawaiian divers sent into the reservoir afterward to search for the body report that the water in places is an much as 40 feet deep. The dead man worked last year for the Kauai Fruit & Land Company as a machinist in the pineapple factory. Of late he had not been doing anything.
