Ah Tuck, a rice planter of Wainiha, fell from the landing at Wainiha bay about 7 o'clock Thursday evening and was drowned. The body was found Saturday afternoon. This morning the coroner's jury completed its investigation and returned a verdict of accidental drowning. The Chinaman, accompanied by another man and a boy, went down to the landing to fish for crabs. Ah Tuck was engaged in drawing his net in for the third time when he fell overboard. The small Hawaiian boy, aged 13, bravely plunged in after the struggling man, caught hold of him, and tried to drag him out, but the Chinaman gripped the boy in such a way that both were in danger of drowning. The man on shore called to the boy to break away, which he succeeded in doing, and just in time, too, for he was almost exhausted when he reached the landing again.
