Nellist (editor) Ault, Rev. William: Dean. St. Andrew's Cathedral. Born March 5, 1871, Tutbury, England, son of Charles and Ann (Smith) Ault; married Elizabeth Mary Caroline Hayselden, Lahaina, Maui, Jan. 24, 1901; children, Ralph William, Norman C., Marguerite E. (Mrs. R. A. Ewart), Kenneth C., and Mary C. Ault; Mason, Knight of Pythias, member Oahu Country Club. Arriving in Hawaii in 1897 as a teacher at the Iolani School, Rev. William Ault was ordained a deacon of the Episcopal Church that year and was placed in charge of the missionary district of Maui, with headquarters at Lahaina. Later another man was obtained for Lahaina and Mr. Ault went to live in Wailuku. After 13 years of service there he was appointed vicar of St. Andrew's parish. In 1928 he was appointed dean of the Cathedral and rector of St. Andrew's Cathedral Parish. He was educated by private tutors and at the St. Boniface College. Ho was created a Canon by Bishop Willis in 1901.
