Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com March 2, 2012, 8:47 pm MAUI NEWS April 30, 1949 An addition to the HC&S Co. Industrial Engineering Department is Richard L. Hubbard, who arrived on Saturday, April 16. Before coming to Maui, Mr. Hubbard was with the HSPA Experiment Station in Honolulu. His background in industrial Engineering dates back to 1945 when he was connected with the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation and more recently with the Flying Tiger Airlines as Administrative Assistant. He served in the U.S. Army for three years. Born in Massachusetts on February 15, 1919, he received his education at the University of Redlands and the University of Southern California. Mr. Hubbard is married to the former Mary Ann Ledgerwood and the couple has two children, Carol Ann, 6 ½ and Richard, Jr., 4 ½. Transferring from the Construction Department as assistant to the Industrial Engineer Richard L. Hubbard is Manabu Tanaka. Mr. Tanaka received his early education at Paia School and Maui High School, then attended the University of Hawaii for two years. He was employed by the former Maui Agricultural Co. in December 1933 as a draftsman in the Construction Department. In June, 1946, he was promoted to supervisor and has retained this post until his recent transfer. Mr. Tanaka and his wife, the former Tokiyo Imai and three sons, reside in Paia.
