LANG AKANA, Executive Secretary. Advisor to more than four hundred boys who are under the supervision of the territorial Board of Industrial Schools, F. Lang Akana, executive secretary of the board, has given valuable social service to Honolulu since his appointment to that office in 1919. Born in Honolulu, April 15, 1889, Mr. Akana is the son of C. T. and Kapika Kauka Akana. He received his education at St. Louis College, and upon being graduated entered the employ of the California Feed Co., Ltd., in 1908. In 1911 he went to Australia on the first concert tour of that country by Hawaiian singers. Always active in athletics, Mr. Akana was a member of a baseball team composed of Oriental and part-Oriental players which toured the mainland in 1912 and 1913. Returning to Hawaii, Mr. Akana was a clerk for the judiciary committee of the senate and for a short time was connected with the territorial archives. For four years before assuming his present position he was again associated with the California Feed Co., Ltd. Mr. Akana and Kate Stewart were married in Honolulu, Aug. 26, 1915. They have two children, Kate Puamana and Frances Lonohiwa Akana. He is a Forester and a member of the Native Sons of Hawaii, Order of Kamehameha and the Hawaiian Civic Club.
