Nellist FRANK MOIR ANDERSON, Plantation Manager. The Hamakua Civic Club owes its being today to the efforts of Frank M. Anderson, manager of the Paauhau Sugar Co., who was active in its organization and was its first president as an exemplification of his interest in civic matters. Born in Kincardinshire, Scotland, Nov. 23, 1882, he is the son of William and Agnes (Moir) Anderson. He attended public schools in Scotland and for a number of years after he came to America studied business and accounting through correspondence schools. Mr. Anderson’s first position was that of mail carrier, at the age of 11 years, which he held for three years. He worked as a farm hand in Scotland six years and at New Hartford, Conn., for one year. In 1904 he arrived in Hawaii and obtained a position as field luna with the Onomea Sugar Co., Papaikou, Hawaii, and rose through various positions until he became chief accountant in 1910. Seven years later he became manager of the Paauhau plantation. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1912 and has been actively interested in sports and civic affairs. Mr. Anderson is a member of Kilauea Lodge No. 330, F. & A. M.; Kalani Lodge of Perfection, Hilo; Honolulu Consistory No. 1, Knights Templar, and Aloha Temple of the Mystic Shrine, Honolulu. He was a captain in the National Guard of Hawaii at Papaikou, 1916, and is a member of the National Rifle Association of America. He married Lilian Margaret Fentiman at Hilo, Hawaii, Sept. 25, 1909, and they have three children, Frank Moir, Jr.; John William and Albert Fentiman Anderson.
