Born at Hilo, June 4, 1891, the son of John T. and Mary Kanoelehua (Kaina) Brown, Harry K. Brown was educated at St. Louis College and began work in 1908 as a clerk in the Hilo tax office, where he remained four years. He was deputy tax assessor of Kau, Hamakua and South Hilo for three years, deputy county auditor for eight years and in 1923 was elected auditor of the County of Hawaii, his present office. He is a Republican, a Forester and a member of the Native Sons of Hawaii. Mr. Brown had eleven years of service in the National Guard of Hawaii, rising from a private to captain, which rank he held for four years. During the World War he had nine months of service at Schofield Barracks as a captain in the United States army. He was a member of the Advisory Board in 1918. Mr. Brown married Elizabeth H. Desha, member of the well known Hilo family of that name, on July 1, 1915.
