CARPENTER, Insurance Adjuster. Thompson W. Carpenter, claims examiner for the American Factors, Ltd., has had wide experience in the insurance field, both on the mainland and in Hawaii. He first came to Hawaii in 1919 but returned to the mainland after a year’s stay here during which he was with the insurance department of the Hawaiian Trust Co., Ltd., and the automobile department of the Home Insurance Co. of Hawaii, Ltd. He assumed his present position in 1923 after having been connected for two years with the San Francisco and Seattle offices of the Hartford Accident and Indemnity Co. of Hartford, Conn. Mr. Carpenter served as a first lieutenant in the United States army during the World War, from 1917 until he received an honorable discharge in 1918. He continued in the government service in the ordnance department at New York City until 1919. Born at Bergen Point, N.J., Oct. 28, 1892, Mr. Carpenter is the son of Thompson W. and Lilian (Hatch) Carpenter. He was educated in New Jersey and, starting to work in 1913, was associated with the New York office of the Fidelity and Deposit Co. of Maryland for three years. Mr. Carpenter and Claire Bohach were married at Seattle, Wash., Jan. 15, 1921.
