FOGARTY, Fire Marshal. A staunch Republican, Edward P. Fogarty has served his party in many ways for more than a score of years, especially in his present position as deputy territorial fire marshal, for which he is eminently fitted. Born Nov. 2, 1874, at San Francisco, Cal., to James and Katherine Fogarty, his education was obtained in the public schools of San Francisco and at Sacred Heart College. He arrived in Hawaii Sept. 26, 1900, to accept a position in the United States Customs Service. Later he was appointed deputy tax assessor, a position which he relinquished to enter the employ of the Bank of Hawaii, Ltd. He then became associated with the insurance department of the Henry Waterhouse Trust Co., later transferring his activities to the James F. Morgan Co., Ltd., prior to his appointment as deputy fire marshal for the Territory. Mr. Fogarty is a director of the Hawaiian Sumatra Plantation, Ltd., and has been a member of the Civil Service Commission of Honolulu. He is a member of the Elks and Red Men and vice-chairman, Republican party of Hawaii.
