Nellist OSWALD ARTHUR HIND, Assistant Plantation Manager. Returning to his native Hawaii in 1919 after World war service, Oswald A. Hind joined the Hawi Mill & Plantation Co., Ltd., as overseer, and served in that capacity until 1924, when he was appointed assistant manager. Mr. Hind, member of an old and prominent island family, was born at Hawi, Island of Hawaii, on Dec. 8, 1891, the son of John and Alice (Renton) Hind. He attended Oahu College, Stanford University, and in 1914 was graduated from Bryant & Stratton’s Business College. After leaving school, Mr. Hind for two years was employed by the shipping firm of Parrott & Co. in San Francisco. For the next year he was with the Chiapas Coffee Co., a Mexican concern, in San Francisco, and with the intervention of the World war he served as a corporal in the 144th Field Artillery, 1917-19, and for six months was with the American forces in France. On Oct. 30, 1920, Mr. Hind married Carolyn Schorr, and they have two children, Elizabeth Jean and William Oswald Hind. Mr. Hind is a member of Kilauea Lodge, No. 330, F. & A.M., and the Masonic Club of Kohala.
