FERDINAND HENRY HONS, Corporation Executive. Ferdinand H. Hons, vice-president 
and general manager of the Inter-Island Steam Navigation Co., has been engaged 
in the transportation business with railroad and steamship companies for 
twenty-five years. He was with the Kahului Railway Co., on the island of Maui 
for ten years, employed successively as station, freight and passenger agent 
and manager of the merchandise department. In 1909 he joined the Inter-Island 
organization as manager of the ship chandlery department. Advancing through 
various positions of responsibility, he became vice-president and assistant 
general manager on Jan. 1, 1922, and was appointed general manager on Feb. 24, 
1925, succeeding James A. Kennedy in that responsible position.
  Mr. Hons is also a director of the Kilauea Volcano House Co., Ltd., 
Consolidated Amusement Co. and the Central Service Station. He is an Elk, 
Mason, Shriner and a member of the Commercial and Oahu Country Clubs, 
Aeronautic Association of Hawaii, Chamber of Commerce and Y.M.CA.
  Previous to his arrival in Hawaii in 1898, Mr. Hons served an apprenticeship 
of three years in Germany with the North German Rice Mills. He was born in 
Bremerhaven, Germany, Nov. 28, 1879, the son of George and Helene (Siebe) 
Hons, and was educated at the high school, Geestemuende, Germany. In 1907 Mr. 
Hons married Mary Helen Chillingworth of Honolulu and they have one son, 
Ferdinand C. Hons.
