Nellist ALBERT HORNER, JR. Pineapple Packer. A career in one of Hawaii’s two great agricultural industries came naturally to Albert Horner, Jr., vice-president and manager of the Hawaiian Canneries Co., Ltd., at Kapaa, Kauai, for his grandfather, John M. Horner, was a developer of the sugar industry and his father, Albert Horner, Sr., was long engaged in planting and later served as territorial agricultural expert. Albert Horner, Jr., was born at Kukaiau, Hawaii, Oct. 28, 1891, the son of Albert and Florence (Winter) Horner. He attended St. Matthews Military Academy and Cornell University, class of 1913. While at Cornell he attained distinction as a musician, both as a composer and director. Following a season with the California Canneries Co., Mr. Horner joined the Hawaiian Canneries Co., Ltd., was superintendent, 1915 to 1921, and was then appointed manager. A World war veteran, Mr. Horner is a member of the American Legion. He also holds membership in the Kauai Chamber of Commerce and the Chi Phi college fraternity and Quill and Dagger Senior Society of Cornell University. On Sept. 30, 1919, Mr. Horner married Phyllis A. Raab, and they have one son, Albert Horner, III.
