Nellist FRANK EDWARD HOWES, Automobile Dealer. For more than 16 years, with the exception of his period of service in the World war, Frank E. Howes has been connected in various prominent capacities with the automobile and garage business of Honolulu. Arriving in Honolulu on the steamer Hilonian in 1908, the day before Thanksgiving, he joined the von Hamm-Young Co., Ltd., as sales manager of its automobile department. He later became manager of the Associated Garage, Ltd., and, in turn, president and manager of the Honolulu Welding & Machine Co., Ltd., and treasurer and manager of the Central Service Station, his present position. He organized the Yellow Taxicab Co., Ltd., in April, 1925, and is its manager and treasurer. Mr. Howes had active service on the fighting front in France and as major, commanding the 414th Motor Train, A.E.F., attached to Headquarters, First Army Corps, went through the Chateau Thierry, St. Mihiel and Argonne offensives. He is a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Pacific and Oahu Country clubs, and is a Mason, Shriner and Elk. Mr. Howes was born at Utica, N.Y., on July 22, 1879.
