SEBA CORMANY HUBER, Lawyer. Leaving a lucrative law practice in which he had 
been engaged for twenty years in Tama, Iowa, S. C. Huber came to Honolulu in 
May, 1916, to take office as United States attorney for Hawaii, under 
appointment from the late President Woodrow Wilson.
  Associated with him was Samuel B. Kemp, who came from Texas the same year to 
serve as assistant United States attorney. When Mr. Huber retired from public 
office in 1922 the two men formed the law partnership of Huber & Kemp, and are 
now successfully practicing in Honolulu.
  Mr. Huber was born Jan. 29, 1871, at Eshcol, Pa., the son of Benjamin Grove 
and Naomi Jane (Cormany) Huber. He is a descendant of old Pennsylvania stock, 
the family having come from Switzerland to America and settled in Pennsylvania 
in 1773.
  His early education was obtained in the public schools and in 1892 he was 
graduated from the Lebanon Valley College, Pa., with the degree of B.S. For a 
year he served as principal of the Tama, Iowa, High School, and for three 
years was superintendent of schools in Tama.
  Leaving academic work to engage in the practice of law, he was a member of 
the law firm of Willett & Huber from 1896 to 1900. For the following 16 years 
he practiced alone, six years of which he served as prosecuting attorney for 
Tama County. He was also mayor of Tama for four years.
  Mr. Huber is a Mason and Shriner. He married Cora A. Birdsell of Tama, Iowa, 
in 1905.
