Nellist WILLIAM CHARLES HUGHES, Civil Engineer. William C. Hughes, son of John A. and Katherine (Matthews) Hughes, was born in San Francisco, Aug. 3, 1889. He attended St. Louis College, Honolulu, and St. Mary’s College, Oakland, Calif., from which he obtained his degree in civil engineering in 1910 and then took a course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Returning to Honolulu, Mr. Hughes was engaged on various engineering projects in the Territory for some years, and is now employed in the county engineer’s office at Santa Cruz, Calif. During the World War Mr. Hughes served with troops of the Hawaiian National Guard, stationed at Schofield Barracks, Oahu. He is an Elk and a member of the American Association of Engineers and the Knights of Columbus.
