Nellist WILLIAM PAUL JARRETT, Delegate to Congress. After an eight-year administration as warden of Oahu prison and high sheriff of the Territory of Hawaii, during which period he won a nationwide reputation as a humanitarian, through the institution of prison reforms, William P. Jarrett was elected delegate to Congress. He was high sheriff from 1914 to 1922, was elected to Congress on the Democratic ticket in November of the latter year and was re-elected in 1924. A descendant of an old and distinguished Hawaiian family, Mr. Jarrett is especially beloved by his own people, and has been active in obtaining legislation in their behalf. Before being high sheriff in 1914, he was deputy sheriff of Honolulu for one term of two years, and sheriff of the city and county of Honolulu for three terms. Born in Honolulu on Aug. 22, 1877, he is the son of William H. and Emma (Stevens) Jarrett. His education was obtained at St. Louis College. In 1907 he married Mary H. K. Clark of Honolulu, and they had four children, Emma, Jane, William and Alexander Jarrett. Mrs. Jarrett died in 1920, and in 1921 Mr. Jarrett married Mrs. Elizabeth Neal.
