Nellist GEORGE LORING KEENEY, Plantation Accountant. With the exception of five years spent in California, George L. Keeney, head bookkeeper and cashier for the Pioneer Mill Co., Lahaina, Maui, has been employed in the sugar industry of Hawaii since 1900. Arriving in the islands in that year, his first connection was with the Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co., Ltd., where he remained eight years, serving as head bookkeeper from 1901 until his return to California in 1908. At Lodi, Calif., Mr. Keeney was engaged as a vineyardist until 1913, when he came back to Hawaii and took a position as assistant bookkeeper for the Pioneer Mill Co., assuming his present more responsible post in 1917. Born at Pine Grove, Calif., Dec. 11, 1868, Mr. Keeney is the son of Loring Grant and Mary Jane (Rice) Keeney. He received his education in the public schools of California and at business college. Mr. Keeney and Edith Lewthwaite were married April 20, 1905. He is a Mason, Shriner and Elk.
