Nellist WILLIAM H. J. KELLER, Business Man. A factor in the business life of Hilo as president and manager of the Building Supply Co., Ltd., William H. J. Keller has been a resident of Hawaii since November, 1909. He was born in New York City, Jan. 11, 1887, the son of Francis X. and Catherine A. (Behr) Keller, and was educated in parochial and public schools of his native city. Following his removal to the islands, he was manager of the planing mill of the Kahului Railway Co., 1910-11; overseer, Kohala Sugar Co., 1911; yardmaster, Hilo Railway Co., 1911-12; with the hardware department of the Hilo Mercantile Co., 1912-16; hardware department, H. Hackfeld & Co., 1916-17, and hardware department, American Factors, 1919-21. In 1921 he organized the Keller Hardware Co., now the Building Supply Co., Ltd. Mr. Keller has had six years of service in the National Guard and United States army (served during the World war period, 1917-18), rising from private to captain. He is a past commander of his American Legion post, an Elk, and member of the Hilo Yacht Club and Chamber of Commerce, serving for two years on the Merchants’ Committee of the latter organization. He was chairman of the Navy Day program committee in 1924. On May 10, 1911, at Kohala, Hawaii, Mr. Keller married Ellen K. Daniels, and they have one child, Nancy E. O. Keller, born May 14, 1917.
