Nellist HENRY KARL KELLNER, Merchant. Born in Kauai, Henry K. Kellner returned to the Territory after spending ten years abroad, where he was educated to enter the business life of the islands. He is now manager of the grocery and tobacco departments of American Factors, Ltd., at the Hilo branch, to which he was assigned after service in the American army during the World war. The son of Heinrich and Fridaricke Kellner, he was born Dec. 23, 1886, at Hanamaulu, Kauai. He left the islands in 1897 and was educated in Germany. Returning to Hawaii in 1906 he was connected with the Hilo branch of H. Hackfeld & Co., Ltd., from Oct. 1, of that year until June 30, 1918, as assistant cashier and bookkeeper, cashier and bookkeeper, salesman and finally manager of the grocery and tobacco department. Mr. Kellner enlisted in the Second Hawaiian Infantry, U. S. A., on July 1, 1918, and was discharged Jan. 31, 1919, with the rank of sergeant. The next day he assumed his present position. He married Belina Catherine Kellner June 30, 1921, and they have two children, Elfrida Miriam, and Henry Karl Kellner. Mr. Kellner is a member of Kilauea Lodge, No. 330, F. & A.M.; B.P.O. Elks, Lodge No. 759, and the Hilo Tennis Association.
