Nellist STANLEY C. KENNEDY, Corporation Executive. Stanley C. Kennedy, son of James A. Kennedy, who directed the destinies of the Inter-Island Steam Navigation Co. for almost a quarter of a century, entered the offices of that corporation at the completion of his college course. He is now secretary and operating manager of the company. Mr. Kennedy was graduated from Stanford University in 1912 with the degree of A.B. and returned to Honolulu. With the intervention of the World war in 1917, he joined the Naval Aviation Service and was one of the few residents of Hawaii to see active service overseas. He received his pilot’s license and commission as an ensign in January, 1918, and for a short time was stationed at Pensacola, Florida and Washington, D.C., and in the summer of 1918 was sent overseas, where he served as first pilot of an H-16 flying boat, attached to the United States Naval Air Station, Killingholme, on duty in the North Sea. For his services during the war, Mr. Kennedy was honored with a silver star from the Navy Department, and a citation, signed by Josephus Daniels, then Secretary of the Navy, said, in part: “As an airship pilot attached to United States aeronautical forces abroad (North Sea) he rendered highly meritorious service.” In 1919 Mr. Kennedy was relieved from active duty, and resumed his work in Honolulu. Mr. Kennedy is a member of the University and Oahu Country clubs and is president of the Stanford Alumni Association of Hawaii. He was born in Honolulu, July 7, 1890, the son of James A. and Minnie C. Kennedy. His early education was received at Punahou and Oahu College. In 1919 he married Martha Davenport in Chattanooga, Tenn. They have one child, Stanley C.
