Nellist ROBERT M. LINDSAY, Plantation Manager. Coming to Hawaii Nov. 27, 1900, to join the Waiakea Mill Co. at Hilo under the management of the late C. C. Kennedy, Robert M. Lindsay has since been continuously engaged in the sugar industry except for his period of World War service. As captain of Co. A, 2nd Hawaiian Infantry, N.G.H., for five years, Mr. Lindsay left the Waiakea Mill Co. on June 1, 1918 when he was called into federal service, receiving his honorable discharge Feb. 18, 1919. From 1919 to 1921 he was manager of Halawa plantation and since the latter year has been manager of the Hamakua Mill Co. Born at Kirriemuir, Scotland, Oct. 1, 1884, the son of Robert and Margaret Lindsay, Mr. Lindsay received a common school education and came to the islands to begin work when but 16. He married Margaret Stewart Forrest on April 4, 1914, and they have one daughter, Margaret Alexandra. Mr. Lindsay is a member of the Hamakua Civic Club, Kohala Post No. 5, American Legion; is past master of Kilauea Lodge No. 330, F. & A.M., a member of the Scottish Rite bodies and a Shriner (Aloha Temple).
