Nellist CHESTER G. LIVINGSTON, Realtor. By profession an educator, Chester G. Livingston, after devoting eleven years to teaching in Honolulu, transferred his interests to the field of business enterprise. He is associated with his brother, Stanley Livingston, in the Livingston Brothers Realty Co., a leading Honolulu real estate firm. He has figured in important land transactions and has devoted considerable time to homestead projects, developing lands at Haiku, Maui. Mr. Livingston came to Honolulu in 1906 to join the faculty of the Kamehameha Schools, where he taught music, mathematics, mechanical drawing and other subjects. At the time of his resignation he was head of the mechanical drawing department. He assisted in the organization of the Kamehameha School Church and was director of music there. He has been a member of the choir at Central Union Church and has otherwise been active in church work. He points with justifiable pride to the fact that under his direction were formed the characters of such representative Hawaiians as Tandy McKenzie, world famous tenor; Duke Kahanamoku, noted swimmer, and others who have attained distinction in many spheres of activity. In 1917 Mr. Livingston entered the Honolulu Iron Works’ engineering department, where he was engaged until February, 1922, when he joined his brother in business. Born in Darke County, O., April 28, 1880, Mr. Livingston is the son of Samuel Lynch and Candace (Gilbert) Livingston. He was educated in the public schools of Ohio and at Oberlin College, where he received a B.A. degree in 1904. He spent one year at Columbia University, New York. He married Katherine Hopper, July 1, 1909, in Honolulu. They were the parents of four children, William Hopper, Jean Elizabeth, Chester Gordon, and Lewers Livingston. Mrs. Livingston died on September 29, 1924. Mr. Livingston is a member of the Pan-Pacific Union, the Ad Club and Kamehameha Chapel in Honolulu.
