Nellist FREDERICK D. LOWREY, Merchant and Legislator. A keen and active interest in the political welfare of his homeland has, in recent years, marked the career of Frederick D. Lowrey, vice-president of Lewers & Cooke, Ltd. Immediately following the completion of his education at Harvard in 1907, Mr. Lowrey returned to Honolulu and joined Lewers & Cooke, with which firm his father, Frederick J. Lowrey, now its president, has been prominently identified since 1879. The younger Lowrey served as treasurer of the company before becoming vice-president. Mr. Lowrey was elected to the House of Representatives from the Fourth District in 1920 and served through the special session of that year and the regular session of 1921, as a member of the important finance and education committees. Re-elected to the House in 1922, he was made chairman of the finance committee and a member of the accounts committee. From 1912 to 1918 Mr. Lowrey was a member of the Oahu Liquor License Commission, and for a portion of that time was its chairman. He holds memberships in the University and Oahu Country clubs. Mr. Lowrey was born in Honolulu, June 6, 1885, the son of Frederick Jewett and Cherilla (Storrs) Lowrey. He was educated at Punahou School and received an A. B. degree from Harvard. In 1911 he married Leila Parsons of Santa Rosa, Calif., and they have five children, Frederick Parsons, John Jewett, Dwight Happer, Kathleen and Lillian Storrs Lowrey.
