Nellist GUY E. MACFARLANE, Merchant. A member of the third generation of his family in Hawaii, Guy E. Macfarlane has remained in the land of his birth to follow a business career, participating also in public life. He is manager of G. E. Macfarlane & Co., dealers in hay, grain and poultry supplies, has been active in Republican politics and in 1924 was a candidate for nomination for the House of Representatives. Mr. Macfarlane was born on Kauai, Feb. 6, 1889, the son of Frederick W. and Emilie (Wiedemann) Macfarlane. He received his education in Honolulu, at Punahou School and St. Louis College, and later entered Lawrenceville Academy in New Jersey, returning to Honolulu in 1908. At that time he entered business with his father in the Union Feed Co. In 1909 he took a position with Libby, McNeill & Libby, in charge of the packing department. Two years later he again joined his father in business but finally severed his connection with the Union Feed Co. in 1922 to establish the company of which he is now manager. He is a member of the Honolulu Chamber of Commerce, Honolulu Ad Club, Native Sons of Hawaii, Outrigger Canoe Club and Hui Nalu.
