Nellist JOHN FRITHIOF NELSON, Educator. Leaving his profession of education in 1923 to engage in business, John F. Nelson returned to it the next year in his present position of principal of the Kamehameha School for Boys. He arrived in Honolulu in September, 1911, as a teacher at the Mid-Pacific Institute, later becoming principal, a position he resigned in 1923 to enter the employ of the Hawaiian Pineapple Co. as a warehouse foreman. He accepted the appointment as principal of Kamehameha School in 1924. Born in Longmont, Colo., Dec. 12, 1887, he is the son of John N. and Ida C. (Solomon) Nelson. His education was received in the Colorado public schools, Colorado College granting him the degree of A.B. He married Edna M. Byrd on June 16, 1921. They have one child, John Byrd Nelson. Mr. Nelson is a member of Beta Theta Pi national fraternity, Hawaii Teachers’ Association, and the Manoa Tennis, Honolulu Ad and Outrigger Canoe clubs.
