Nellist LEWIS BENJAMIN REEVES, Business Manager. A former sailor, detective, army officer, and accountant, Lewis B. Reeves came to the Clinic in June, 1921, as business manager for six Honolulu physicians and surgeons, associated in the practise of group medicine. Mr. Reeves’ career has been most varied. At the completion of his course in the New York Nautical School in 1898 he went to sea, and for five years sailed all over the world in every capacity from apprentice boy to second officer. In 1902 he first came to Honolulu and worked for the Wilder Steamship Co. on the “Helene”. From 1907 to 1909 he was harbor policeman and detective on the Honolulu police force, and from January, 1910, to June, 1918, customs inspector and deputy collector of customs. During the World War he served as a captain of Infantry, unassigned, at headquarters, Fort Shafter, and from 1919 until he took his present position at the Clinic he was cashier for the Standard Oil Co. in Honolulu. He was lieutenant-colonel of the National Guard regiment in Hawaii from 1920 to 1923. Born in Port Jervis, New York, June 25, 1882, he is the son of George Hebbard and Eleanor (Shoemaker) Reeves, and a descendant of the Von Shoonmachers of Bavaria. He attended the public schools of New York. In 1915 he married Julia M. Cunningham of Beaufort, S.C., and they have three children, Lewis, George and Samuel Reeves. Mr. Reeves is a Mason, Elk, a Knight of Pythias and a member and former secretary of the Kaimuki Improvement Club.
