Fritz Jacob Fritz Jacob Fritz was born 17 April 1820,Laufen, Balingen, Wurttemberg (Germany). He arrived in New York City on the ship "Humboldt" on 28 November 1851. He gave his age as 27. [Wisconsin Historical Society microfilm P45699 #1725] He declared his intention to become a citizen in Pennsylvania before settling in Iowa. He was naturalized 13 April 1870 in Allamakee County, Iowa. Jacob never married. He died 12 March 1899, age 79, and was buried in Lansing Ridge Cemetery, Allamakee County, Iowa. His grave marker give his birth as 17 April 1824. ---------------------- Verena Waegelin Fritz Verena Waegelin was born 8 May 1817 in Diessenhofen, Thurgau, Switzerland to Jacob Waegelin and Verena Anna Fischli. Her family can be documented back to 1593 in the same Swiss village. Verena married Ludwig (Louis) Fritz 27 January 1847 in Diessenhofen. Ludwig was a German national. Verena and Ludwig had eight children in Switzerland, two daughters and six sons. A daughter and two sons died in Switzerland. Verena, age 49, and three children immigrated 17 October 1866 to the U.S.A. on the ship, "Ericsson" from Antwerp to New York City. The children were Elisabetha, age 18; Conrad, age 17; and Wilhelm age 7. Ludwig and two sons, Jacob and Ludwig E., had immigrated the previous year(1865) and settled in Allamakee County, Iowa.
