Dean A. Koeppen
  Van Horne---Funeral services were held this morning at St Andrew's Lutheran 
church in Van Horne for Dean Allen Koeppen, 45, who was killed in a one car 
accident late Friday afternoon.  The Rev. Glenn Renken officiated and burial 
was in St John's Cemetery at Newhall where graveside military rites were 
conducted by Thomas Bevins Post No 148 of the American Legion.
  He was born June 18, 1931, at Elberon, a son of Rudy and Viola Koeppen.  He 
served in the Navy from 1950-1954, and married Frances Peterson on April 21, 
1957, at Newhall.  A former Van Horne fireman and former member of the City 
Council, he was employed as a bookkeeper at Thermogas, Marengo.
  In addition to his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Cindy and Kathy, 
at home; his mother of Elberon; two sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Audrey) Papesh of 
Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Roy (Colleen) Albers of Keystone; and one brother, 
Eugene of Solon.
