GLADYS M. SLOAN
  Brandon--Gladys M. Sloan, 63, lifelong resident of Brandon, died Sunday, 
November 25, 1990 at her home.
  Born December 14,1926, in Brandon, she was the daughter of Everett E. and 
Mildred Kaiser Sanders.  She married Norman "Clair" Sloan in Brandon July 27, 
1947.  Mrs Sloan was a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College and taught in 
the Brandon School prior to her marriage.  She was a member of the Brandon 
United Methodist Church and was active in church groups, O.D.O. and Friendly 
Neighbors.
  Mrs. Sloan is survived by her husband; two sons, Robert Alan, Waterloo and 
Richard James and wife, Diana, Rowley; one daughter, Carol Lynne (Mrs. Wayne) 
Citty, Tampa, FL.; one sister, Betty (Ted) McClurg, Urbana, IL; one grandson, 
Adam Michael Citty.
  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother in infancy.
  Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 28, at the Brandon United 
Methodist Church at 10 a.m. with Rev. Robert Beard, minister of the church 
officiating.  Burial will be at the Brandon Cemetery.
  Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Campbell-Russell Funeral Home, 
Vinton, and from 9 a.m. until the service at the church.
  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Fund or to the family toward 
the Educational Scholarship Fund.
