(Bridgeton, N.J.) 1851-1884: March 06, 1858 Died In Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa, on the 18th ult., Mrs. Eliza Jane Fithian, wife of Rev. Wm. Fithian, late of New York. Mrs. F. was the daughter of Dr. Clark, of Danville, and niece of the venerable Dr. John Barnard, of Lima, N. York. She was born at Danville, Livingston County, where she lived till her marriage, when she removed with her husband to Bunker Hill, Ill. Here they devoted themselves to the Home Missionary work for two years, when impaired health compelled him to desist, for a time, from labor. In 1846 they returned to the homestead in Danville, with the full intention, however, of returning to resume missionary labor on the western field as soon as the Providence of God should permit. But Christ had other work for them. The eight following years their labors were devoted to the church in Sparta, adjacent to Danville, succeeding the pastorate of the lamented Hull, subsequently of Sandusky City. From this place their labors were transferred to Pembroke, Genessee Co.
