Shannon, 89, of 816 Western Ave., will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with burial in Gerden of memories Cemetery. she died of natural causes Wednesday (March 30) aththe home of her daughter in Clearwater, Fla. She was born Sept. 3, 1898, in Nichols, daughter of Josiah and Della Coyner Rummells. she married Harry shannon on Oct. 29, 1919, in Nichols. He died in 1979. She moved to Waterloo in 1933. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, with a degree in teaching. She and her husband operated Dura tile in Waterloo for 20 years, retiring in 1972. Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Train of Clearwater and Virginia Appleby Frink of Cedar Rapids; four grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harolde Rummells of West Liberty; and three sisters, Helen Borchardt of Iowa city, Edna TeStrake of Eustis, Fla., and Dorothea Tipton of Bele air Beach, Fla. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at O'Keefe & Towne-Carter & Waychoff Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to the church.
