She was the daughter of Frederick and Augusta VanDersee Honig. She was baptized in infancy and her religous training and confirmation vows were spoken in Germany in the Lutheran Church. At the age of 18 she came to America and lived at Sumner, and 18 December 1908 she married Albert Klemp at Maynard. They are the parents of six children: Ferdinand, Marion, Esther, Mrs. Edwin Schneider; Lester, Walter and Edgar, Sumner, Elsie, Mrs. Wilbert Gruber of this area. Mr. & Mrs. Klemp lived on their home place all the years of their married life and have been members of St. Matthew's since their marriage. Mrs. Klemp died Tuesday at 7:30 P.M. at the age of 80 years, 8 months and one day. She had returned from Allen Hospital, Waterloo, Sunday. She had been a hospital patient several times and was an invalid. Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church with Rev. Erich J. Dornbusch officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Klemp is survived by her husband, her six children, sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and one sister Mrs. Amelia Gloede. She was preceeded in death by two brothers and one half-brother and one sister.
