There was no reference as to which newspaper or publication the obituary first appeared. DIED ___________ Dated: 1880-1890 J. E. Callender died very suddenly Monday evening, Sept. 3, at his home in Polk township, a few miles northwest of Horton. Some time ago he had his leg hurt in Plainfield while trying to hold his forses who were frightened at a steam thresher outfit which was passing. While he was confined to the house by the injury, it was not thought to be dangerous. A short time before his death he had his injured leg bathed, and a few minutes later he fell over dead. The immediate cause of death was heart disease. John Ellis Callender ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dated: 1880-1890 Lydia Van Vechten (or Veehten ?) died at the home of her brother, O. Babcock, on Friday morning, Aug. 31, aged 58 yrs and 13 days. She was born in Onondago county, New York. She afterwards moved to Gloversville, N. Y. and lived there until nine years ago when she came to Waverly. She leaves a son, John Van Vechten, and her two brother, Orlando and Albert Babcock. O. Babcock left with the remains for Gloversville on Friday evening, where she was buried by the side of her husband who died some time ago. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dated 1880-1890 - Mrs. Beatrice COFFIN DIED: At her home in Polk township, Thursday, April 19, after a short illness, Mrs. Beatrice Coffin. Deceased was but 28 years old, and was the daughter of Adin Terry and wif of W. A. Coffin. She leaves two little children, a husband, parents and several brothers and sisters to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held at Horton, Saturday, at ll a.m. J. O. Sutton, officiating. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dated: 1880-1890 ARMSTRONG.- Lottie Armstrong, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. L. Armstrong, died at the home of her parents in Warren township on Saturday night, Feb. 23. The deceased was sixteen years and six months old. The funeral services were held from her father's home Tuesday and the remains interred in Andrews' cemetery, Rev.
