Sudden Death of Albert Harrington Dated: Feb. 2, 1884 It becomes our painful duty to chronicle the sudden death of Albert Harrington, at his home in Polk township, on Saturday evening last, February 2d, 1881[sic]. On the Wednesday previous to his death he went into the timber to chop some wood. While there he was taken with a severe pain in the region of the kidneys, and it was with difficulty he reached his home. He suffered severely through the night, but seemed a little easier next day. On Saturday morning he sat by the stove and read a newspaper. A short time afterwards he was taken worse, and be the time the sable curtain of night had shut out the light of day, the spirit of Albert Harrington had taken its flight to join in the realities of the higher and better life. Deceased was a brother of O. C. Harrington, and was a man of excellent education, and a ready writer. He was a good citizen, and enjoyed the respect of the community in which he lived so long. Deceased was born in Rhode Island, Oct, 2d, 1815, hence died at the age of 68 years and 4 months. In 1821, the family moved from Rhode Island to Onondaga county, N. Y. He was married Oct 28, 1840, in Onondage county, to Miss Sally Ann Cotlin (Coflin?), a native of that county. In 1868, they came to Bremer county, settling in Polk township where he as resided since. He leaves a wife and only child, and numerous relatives to mourn the loss of a kind husband, affectionate father, and true friend. The daughter who is a graduate of the Normal School at Albany, N. Y., and is fitting herself for a practicing physician, at Bellevue hospital in New York city, was expected to arrive home on Tuesday evening. Services were held at the family residence yesterday morning at 10 o'clock Rev. ________ officiating. The remains were started for the old home in Onondaga county, on the 4 o'clock south bound train yesterday, under charge of Charles Cotlin (Coflin?), and will be laid away in the quiet church yard amid the (unreadable)__. is earlier years.
