Johnson (Waterman) ioniaetter@yahoo.com February 4, 2012, 7:08 am Tripoli Leader - 16 Nov 1908 - obituary Andrew J.(Jackson) Waterman born in state of New York, Aug. 22nd, 1831; died at home of his daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. D.Ladd, on Nov 18, 1908 at the age of 77 years, 2 months, 27 days. He was united in Marriage to Miss Nancy J. Dilley in Ohio in the spring of 1856. To this union 6 children were born, three dying in infancy. The family moved to Delaware County, Iowa about 49 years ago, then to Leroy Township, Bremer County in the spring of 1868. Nancy died Sep. 28, 1868. He married again to Miss Emily Rockwood and to this union were born eight children, two dying in infancy. Mr. Waterman joined the Christian church during early manhood in the state of Ohio, and he joined the United Brethren Church here in Iowa. Mr Waterman enlisted in the Civil war in the fall of 1863 as a private in Company G, 6th Calvary, and served till the close of the war. Those living to morn his loss is his wife, 5 sons, and 4 daughters. The funeral was held at the Congregational church officiated by Rev. W. A. McCorkie. Internment was at Fremont Cemetery with grave services by the G.A.R.Post with the honors of their service. Additional Comments: other facts: In 1864 during Civil War Service he was reassigned to the 23rd Iowa Infantry Regiment for his last 100 days of service. The 1880 Census lists his occupation as that of Crpenter.
