Johnson (Waterman) ioniaetter@yahoo.com February 4, 2012, 8:14 am Waverly Democrat - 17 Dec 1925 - obituary Emma Jane Rockwood, born in St Lawrence County, New York, died in Horton, Iowa at the home of her daughter Mrs. A.J. Wilharm, Saturday, Dec. 12,1925. She was 75 years, 1 month, and 18 days old. Emma was the daughter of Sydney and Esther Wait Rockwood. At the age of 3 months she and her parents and brothers, James, Will, and George moved to McHenry County, Illinois from New York, then to Wisconsin. When she was five, the family traveled by covered wagon to Bremer County, Iowa. At an early age she was baptised by immersion at the Wapsipinnicon River and was a member of the the Baptist Church. Nov. 28, 1868 she was united in marriage to Andrew Waterman of Tripoli, now deceased. She leaves to morn her loss: four sons George, Roy, Calvin and Charles all of Tripoli; two daughters Mrs Alva Baggs of Cedar Falls, and Mrs. August Wilharm of Horton; one brother William Rockwood of Minneapolis; twenty six grandchildren besides other relatives and a host of friends. Internment was at Harlington Cemetery following services on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 pm at the Kaiser Chapel. Officiating the service was Rev. H.E. Belden of the Horton Baptist Church. Additional Comments: the obit lists marrage to Jason Waterman, I do not know why this name is used and may be a typing error; do not find anywhere that he was referred to as Jason thus changed the name to his proper name.
