I don't know where Edwin Carrington was from, but it appears that he served with Elmer and perhaps had connections here. =============================================== GENERAL AFFIDAVIT FOR ANY PURPOSE State of Iowa, County of Buena Vista S.S. In the matter of the affliction of Elmer D. Allen for a pension, Edwin L Carrington of said county personally comes the affiant who being first sworn on oath says: That he was a private in Co K 37th regiment New York Vol. and that he was well acquainted with Elmer D. Allen who was a private in the same company and that said Allen was wounded in both legs in the line of battle on the 31st day of May 1862 at the battle of Fair Oaks Va and affiant further says that he well remembers the fact as he was wounded in the same battle and taken to the same hospital at Newport News Va and afterwards to David's Island Hospital near New York City with said Allen and said Allen was at the last name hospital when I was discharged. and said affiant further swears that he is not interested in the prosecution of the claim and his Post Office address is Alta County of Buena Vista State of Iowa Affiant's Signature: Edwin L Carrington Subscribed and sworn before me this first day of April 1881. The affiant is the person he represents himself to be and a credible witness. I am not interested in this claim sought to be established. Witness my hand and seal, day and year above written.
