Weeks and Nellie Patrick Jack Cochran and Ida Aton Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa Sept 7, 1892 On Wednesday evening August 30 at 8 o'clock, Miss Ida Aton was given in marriage to Mr. Jack Cochran, at the house of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Dan Aton, Rev. S. W. Stophlet officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Aton left on Monday of this week for an extended visit with friends in Ohio. They will enjoy the world's fair enroute and will be absent several months. In the meantime Mr. Cochran and his young bride will occupy the Aton home. The congratulations and good wishes of the community will be given to the young couple and hopes that much enjoyment may come to them in their life together --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lillian Buttrick and Clifford Bullinger Married Here Friday Miss Lillian Buttrick, daughter of Mrs. Julia Buttrick of Lake City and Mr. Clifford Bullinger of Denver Colo., were united in marriage on Friday, October 1, at 6 p.m. at the home of the bride's mother here. S. E. Stanfield, justice of the peace, of Rockwell City, officiated at the double ring ceremony. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Buttrick of Sioux City. The bride wore a blue-gray suit with blue acessories and a corsage of pink carnations and yellow pom poms. Following the wedding, a dinner was served to the bridal party, wedding guests and immediate relatives at the home of the bride's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Conner. Out-of-town guests included Mrs. Clara Olmsted of Wichita, Kansas, a sister of the bridegroom; Mrs. R. B. Ayers, Kansas City, Mrs. Merle Atkinson, Hampton, Mo., Miss Beth Buttrick of Sioux City, and Miss Hazel Lamb of Des Moines. Mrs. Bullinger graduated from the Lake City high school in 1924 and attended Coe College. She has been employed by the American Red Cross for a number of years and for the past few years has been field director at an air force base in Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Bullinger is employed by the Duplicating Supply Co., in Denver, where the couple will make their home. On Saturday afternoon a reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. Bullinger was held at the home of the bride's mother, with about thiry close friends and relatives attending. Garden flowers decorated the home. Mrs. C. O. Goodale cut the wedding cake and Miss Hazel Lamb of Des Moines had charge of the gifts. Assisting Mrs. Buttrick were Mrs. Bruce Tubbs, Mrs. Ralph Hobart and Mrs. Goodale. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John L.Churchill and Olive O. Betenbender Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa September 7, 1893 Married- At the home of the brides parents, in Lake City, Tuesday evening, Sept. 5, at half past six o'clock, Mr. John L. Churchill and Miss Olive O. Betenbender, Rev. J. J. Gardner officiating. The groom is a fireman on the C. & N. W. R'y. The bride is well known as she has made her home in Lake City for several years. The Graphic joins in wishing them happiness and prosperity in the future. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Erb and Maud Cook Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa May 30, 1889 ERB-COOK At the conclusion of the regular services at the M. E. Church on last Sabbath evening, Miss Amber Swem at the organ played appropriate music while the bride, Miss Maud Cook and the groom, Mr. Wm. Erb, came in to the church accompanied by Dr. C. I. Bart and Miss Lulu Toliver as best lady and gent. The bridal couple and attendants appeared before the altar and the pastor, Rev. E. G. Swem, by the use of a nice ceremony pronounced Mr. Erb and Miss Cook one. After the ceremony the little party left the church as quietly as they came. While the ceremony took place out of the usual form in this community it was nevertheless at once proper and unique. Mr. Erb is one of the honored and trusted conductors of the C & N. W. Ry and a man in every regard. Miss cook has passed nearly her whole life here one of the best young ladies of the community. The union of this happy pair is especially a happy one, insuring their future happiness and success. At 12, midnight, following the ceremony a party of serenaders paid their compliments to the bridal couple in strains of selected music. On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Erb took the train east for a short trip, The Graphic with their many other friends wishes them a long a happy life. B. Stewart Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa June 18, 1889 MARRIED On yesterday forenoon at 10:30 Mr. Grant Fox of Lake city, was married to Mrs. B. B. Stewart at the home of the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Mackey, fort Dodge, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Fox will take up their abode in the residence on the west side, formerly owned by Dr. G. L. Sherman. We welcome them to their home in Lake City with the hope that their future may be one of unalloyed happiness. Mr. Fox will still remain with the L. F. Gabriel and Ilee Smith Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa October 12, 1893 Married, at the residences of the brides parents in Lake City, Thursday evening, September 28, 1893, Miss Ilee, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. J. O. Smith, to Mr. Rodney C. Gabriel, Rev. S. W. Stophlet officiating. Mr. Bert Morse was the groomsman and Miss Maud Smith the bridesmaid. The wedding march was beautifully rendered by Miss Jessie Parris, of Gowrie. Fifty- six invited guests were present, all relatives. The contracting parties were well known in this community. The bride has won many friends and admirers for her amiability and noble qualities. The groom is at present engaged in the livery business, but was formerly associated with different business enterprises of our city. He has won the esteem of all for his integrity and business qualifications. Carl Gherhardt to Miss Ella Ramige, Presiding Elder Henn officiating. The above happy event taking place in the presence of eighty invited guests, among whom were the groom's father and mother from Aplington, Lew Gherhardt, Fort Dodge, Rev. O. Gherhardt, LeMars, brothers of groom, Presiding Elder Henn, of Fort Dodge, and Miss Louisa Schaffer, LeMars. After the wedding ceremony was over and congratulations extended, an excellent dinner prepared by the hand of the bride's sister, Miss Addie, was served. The groom is a minister of gospel in charge of the German Evangelical Church societies here and Pocahontas county and during his stay here has made many friends. We congratulate him in securing such an excellent young lady as Miss Ella for a lifelong helpmeet in the work he has chosen, for she will indeed prove a helpmeet which anyone might feel proud in securing. Green Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa Aug 10, 1893 WEDDING Married, at the M. E. church, in Lake City, Iowa, at 2 o'clock p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 1893, Miss Annie W. GARDNER, to Prof. B. T. GREEN, Rev. H. P. DUDLEY, pastor of Broadway M. E. church, Council Bluffs, officiating. The bride is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. J. GARDNER, of our city. She was not extensively known here having only recently come to Lake City from Lawrence, Kansas, where she had been attending college for a number of years. But her acquaintances recognized in her unusual attainments. Her sweet disposition and pleasant manner won for her the esteem of all who met her. The groom has been connected with Tobin college, Fort Dodge, Iowa, a number of terms, and of which he is at present principal. He is a young man of culture and pleasant address. The wedding was at the M. E. Church of which Rev. GARDNER is pastor, and was made a public affair. By 2 o'clock the church was filled to its seating capacity. A piece of music was rendered by the Townsend orchestra, at the close of which Burt BRYAN and Miss BETHARD appeared, followed soon after by Rev. and Mrs. GARDNER, the bride, little Nita HOPKINS as maid of honor, and Ned FIELD, the page, bearing the ring. At the door they formed in the following order; Van KETTLES and Edward E. OLIVER, escorting ushers; Rev. and Mrs. GARDNER, the page and maid of honor; the bride; Oman BISHOP and J. B. McCRARY, ushers. The groom, accompanied by Rev. DUDLEY, entered the wing door, and all advanced to the altar to a march by the orchestra. The church was elaborately decorated by members of the church and friends. The decorations consisted of house plants, cut flowers, water lilies and evergreens. Hanging over the bride, suspended from the ceiling, was huge bridal bell composed of flowers. The decorations were unique. The bride was attired in a gray silk dress, plain but neat, which was a present from her uncle, Dr. GARDNER, of Lawrence Kansas. It was beautifully trimmed and decorated with bridal roses. The groom was attired in black. After the ceremony the party retired from the church in the reverse order of march. The bridal party drove over to Lohrville at 4 o'clock, where the newly married couple took the train for Fort Dodge. They will remain there about ten days, then return for a visit before entering upon duty in the college in September. They will have rooms in the college building, which are now furnished. Mrs. GREEN will have charge of the vocal music and art department. The bride's boquet was presented by Mrs. C. S. HOPKINS. There were many flowers of all kinds presented by admiring friends. A beautiful clock was presented by a number of members of the church whose names have not been secured. A convertible dictionary holder and writing desk was presented by the ushers. The wedding was one of the most pleasant occasions of the kind that has ever occurred in Lake City. The GRAPHIC joins the host of friends and admirers in wishing the newly married couple a long, happy and prosperous life. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dennis Griffin and Celia Cunningham Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa May 2, 1889 A quiet wedding took place last Sunday morning at Lohrville, the contracting parties being Mr. Dennis Griffin and Miss Celia Cunningham, of Lake City, the bride's former home being Ogdensburg, N.Y. The only guest present were Mrs. Jas. Cunningham and daughter - mother and sister of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Sheran, Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Canfield. Mr. and Mrs. Griffin leave this week for Chicago and Boone, where they will spend a few weeks visiting and receiving the congratulations of their many friends and relatives. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leo Hartman and Ida White Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa January 3, 1894 MARRIED In the U. Mr. Hartman and Miss White are both well known in and around Lake City. Mr. Hartman is a young farmer living near the city. Miss White has been engaged in teaching schools around Lake City where she now lives. McMACKIN, on Woodlawn avenue, in the presence of a few relatives and friends, J. D. KENNEDY of Lake City and Miss Rose MEYERS of Salem, Ills., were united in the holy bonds of matrimony by Rev. C. B. WINTER of the M. E. church. The bride is a sister of Mrs. W. W. McMACKIN and first met Mr. KENNEDY three years ago while visiting here. She is both beautiful and accomplished, and possesses in a rare degree those traits of character that will make her an amiable and loving wife. The groom has been a resident of Lake City for nearly four years and by his genial disposition and gentlemanly manner has won the confidence and respect of the entire community and as this worthy young couple start on life's voyage under the most favorable circumstances, surrounded by friends, their lot is a happy one; and, while life has its shadows as well as its joys we believe we voice the sentiment of all our people in whishing Mr. and Mrs. J. D. KENNEDY a happy and prosperous journey along lifes pathway. They were the recipients of many costly ad handsome presents as tokens of esteem from their friends. Olmstead and Lucy A. Monroe Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa Aug 26, 1893 Married On Tuesday, Aug. 22, 1893, at the home of the bride in Jackson township, Mrs. Lucy A. MONROE was married to Mr. H. S. OLMSTEAD, Rev. J. J. GARDNER officiating. This is one of cupid's pranks that was a genuine surprise to everybody, excepting, possibly, the contracting parties themselves. Even the officiating clergyman was not let into the secret until the last moment. Rev. Gardner was called upon to perform a marriage ceremony "at Aunt Lucy Monroe's place," but he naturally supposed that it was a neice, or perhaps some young friend, of that excellent lady, whom love had prompted to demand his services, and not until the hour for the ceremony had arrived was he set aright in the premises. But all of Aunt Lucy's friends-and they are legion- unite in extending heartiest best wishes upon this happy occasion and in congratulating the groom upon his wise choice of a helpmeet. Mr. Olmstead is not so well known here as his bride, but we are informed that he is a worthy gentleman and well-to-do farmer, late of Homer, Ia. C. Wilcox officiating. Mr. Thrasher is one of the trusted locomotive engineers of the C. & N. W. Ry. And his bride is one of our most estimable young ladies. Vogel to Miss Emma Birdsall, Rev. Swem officiating. Fifty invited guest were present, among which were Mrs. Scott and son Homer, of Rockwell; Mr. Hill, wife and daughter, Vinton, Iowa; Mrs. Camp and daughter, Dana, Mr. Taggert and sister, Mr. Burnside and Miss Ballard, of Odebolt, Iowa. Their presents were numerous and handsome. No list given. After dinner Capt. R. A. Smith and wife were called before the company and a valuable book presented them by Mrs. Birdsall in memory of their 38 wedding anniversary, their wedding having occurred at the same hour 38 years before. Mrs. Smith responded in a few well chosen words thanking them for the kind remembrance. Walker and Lulu Dixon Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa May 30, 1889 Married - At 6 a.m. May 29, at the home of the bride, Rockwell City, by Rev. S. W. Stophlet, Mr. L. C. Walker and Miss Lulu Dixon. The bridal couple took the morning train for Des Moines, Chicago and other points of interest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ J. W. Weeks and Nellie Patrick Lake City Graphic Lake City, Iowa September 7, 1893 Married - On Wednesday evening Sept. 6, 1893, at the home of the bride, Mr. J. W. Weeks and Miss Nellie Patrick. The ceremony took place at 8:30 o'clock, Rev. s. W. Stophlet officiating. The wedding was private none being present but Mr. and Mrs. Stophlet, Miss Allie Miles and the members of the families of the contracting parties. Supper was served following the ceremony. Mr. Weeks was formerly in the employ of the C. and N. W. R. R. but is now permanently located iin our city and is partner in the Weeks and Grabiel livery firm. He and his bride leave today for a visit to the World's Fair after which they will return and settle in the property, which the groom has purchased lately for a home. Miss Patrick, since making her home in our city has won the esteem of many friends. She is the daughter of a trusted engineer of the C. N. W. R. R. in which capacity he has served for more than twenty years.
