C. D. James of Nora Springs in charge. Mrs. A. D. Diercks sang "Face to Face" and "Asleep in Jesus." She was accompanied by Mrs. H. P. Luenrud. The local Odd Fellows lodge was in charge of the services. Burial was at the Chariton cemetery. From the Mason City (Cerro Gordo, Iowa) Globe-Gazette, Thursday, April 6, 1939, p. 23, col. 4: Plan Funeral Rites for John H. Clark at I.O.O.F. Home Friday John H. Clark, 78, died at the I.O.O.F. home at 10 o'clock Wednesday night, following an illness of about a week. Mr. Clark had been a resident of the home since Jan. 29, 1939. Mr. Clark was born Dec. 25, 1860, in Orange county, Ind., and came to Iowa when a small boy. He had been a member of the Russell lodge No. 337 for the past 56 years, and was a member of the Encampment and the K. P. of Chariton. Surviving Mr. Clark are three cousins, Jessie Mae Clark and Cora McDonald, Chariton, and A. M. Elrod, Macon, Mo. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the I.O.O.F. home, with the Mason City Odd Fellows in charge. Burial will be at Chariton.
