Hill funeral is Friday CLEAR LAKE -- Charley A. Hill , 75, 912 S. 3rd St. died in a Boone hospital Tuesday following an illness. Mr. and Mrs. Hill had been living in the Evangelical Free Church Home at Boone since March 5. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Harold A. McGowan officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. The Ward Van Slyke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hill was born June 28, 1893, in Marshall County, the son of Arthur and Laura Hill. When he was 7 years old, the family moved to North Dakota where he received his education. They returned to Marshall County in 1910 and he attended business college at Marshalltown. He was married to Minnie Vernal Randall March 25, 1914 at Thompson. They farmed several years in Marshall County moving to Mason City in 1934. They came to Clear Lake in 1935 where he was employed by Zeidler Concrete Products Co. until he retirement. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Gobeli, Clear Lake; four sons Earl Hill, Waterloo; Richard, Clear Lake; George, Mason City, and Robert, Ventura; 4 grand children and four great grandchildren. He was a charter member of the Evangelical Free Church and was active on the church board until two years ago. Pallbearers selected include Lyle Steuer, De Lon Gobeli, Edwin Hill, Michael Clausen, Donald Neuberger and Douglas Pals. Mrs. Arthur Merwina nd Mrs. John McCollough will be in charge of flowers.
